Prof. P. Palani is the Director and Head of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany at the University of Madras, Chennai. His research expertise spans molecular plant pathology, fungal pathology, and bacteriophage-mediated biological control of bacterial diseases in plants. He has conducted extensive studies on Candida albicans gene expression at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centre. Since joining CAS in Botany in 2004, his lab has focused on using bacteriophages to control bacterial crop diseases. He served as the Organizing Secretary of ICBRAR-2023 and was awarded the Fellow of the Society of Bacteriophage Research and Therapy in 2023.

He has published 95 research papers, 5 book chapters. He has received five awards. He has been identified as a member of the expert committee by the DG, ICMR, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India for Bacteriophage Therapy

His research lab focuses on phage- displayed peptides and nanobodies for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He extends his research interest in phage therapy, identifies lytic phages against different Multi-drug Resistant (MDR) pathogens, and develops phage based scaffolds for infection control and wound healing. His lab also develops antibiotic and non-antibiotic phage combinations to combat phage resistance in pathogens

Dr. Prasanth Manohar is a phage biologist and research associate at the Center for Phage Technology, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. His research interests encompass the fields of bacteriophage biology, prokaryotic and phage genomics, genetic engineering, and phage therapy. The main focus is on the mechanisms by which phage cause lysis of their bacterial hosts. His current research primarily focuses on the hunt for single-stranded RNA phages and their lysis protein (Single Gene Lysis) which attacks the bacterial cell wall machinery. Research on phage therapeutics includes the preparation of phage cocktails to treat complex, difficult-to-treat, antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections
